Q. Describe your “perfect” meal, complete with dessert.

A. My perfect meal would be an award winning burger from The Burger Dive (probably the I’m your Huckleberry but its hard to choose) with their garlic fries, a Fear Movie Lions Double IPA from Stone Brewing, and to top it off I would have to have one of my homemade brownies topped with vanilla ice cream.

Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?

A. Something I don’t share with everyone is that I consider myself to be a pretty good cook. I still have a lot to learn, but I love to cook and make most everything from scratch. Many of my favorite foods are ones that I cook myself.

Q. What’s something you know more about than most people?

A. I know a lot about heavy metal, its sub genres and what makes them distinct. Having listened to it for a while, there aren’t many sub-genres that I haven’t listened to and there are bands I like from pretty much all of them.

Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to? Why?

A. One of my favorite places to visit is Fort Peck Lake in north eastern Montana. I love the mountains too, but the plains can be beautiful too, the sky can’t be bigger than when the ground is mostly flat. My family and I have made many good memories there, from fishing, to boating, to just hanging out together.

Q. What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book? Favorite Artist / Band?

A. Favorite movie –  It is hard to think of movies that aren’t kids movies as that is what I watch most of the time I sit down to watch a movie… I really enjoy Shawshank Redemption.
Favorite book – I need to re-read it, but Catch-22 has been a favorite of mine for a while.
Favorite Artist/Band – Now this one is hard… Based on my Spotify listening from the last two years I would have to give that title to Berried Alive. Charles Caswell is an incredibly talented guitarist, even if you aren’t a huge fan of the style. I also appreciate all of the fruit puns in their song titles and the generally light hearted nature that they have about producing music. There are many more artists from many other genres that come in second place though.

Q. If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead) who would it be?

 A. I would like to have dinner with Elon Musk.

Q. What’s something you’re passionate about?

A. Besides heavy metal, I am passionate about many other genres of music as well. I love fostering connections with people through music. I am also passionate about bettering myself professionally and personally. Outside of those things I love fly fishing as well as DIY projects that I should probably pay someone else to do.

Q. What’s something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?

A. Avoid credit cards like the plague. I do not regret the debt that I have and I am not drowning in it by any means, but I think that telling myself where I could be without it may have led me to make better choices.

Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?

A. I would love to be able to play any instrument without needing to practice it. I have played a number of different instruments in the past but not put in the work to get really good. I would also like to drive professionally in rally or similar off-road racing category. I feel like I would be a solid driver, but have not had the opportunity to try.

Q. What are your personal hobbies?

A. I love to fly fish, and own a number of high end radio control cars.

Q. Who inspires you?

A. I am inspired by Elon Musk, I like his passion for doing what he wants to do and being willing to push the envelope beyond what was thought to be possible, regardless of the cost.

John, it’s an absolute honor and joy to have you at EB!
